Title of the Talk:
From Assistants to Agents: The Evolution of AI in Healthcare Delivery
Abstract of the Talk:
AI in healthcare is undergoing a pivotal shift from rule-based assistants that passively support clinicians to autonomous agents that actively drive care delivery. These intelligent agents can perceive complex clinical contexts, reason over multimodal data, initiate actions, and continuously adapt to patient conditions. Unlike traditional assistants, agents operate with a degree of autonomy, collaborating with care teams, streamlining workflows, and making real-time, context-aware decisions. This keynote explores the technological and conceptual evolution from assistive AI to agentic AI. It highlights recent advances in real-time data fusion, reinforcement learning, multi-agent collaboration, and ethical safeguards essential for deploying trustworthy clinical agents. We will examine how these agents are being applied across diagnostics, ICU monitoring, discharge planning, and population health.
Attendees will gain a forward-looking perspective on how AI agents are not just enhancing healthcare, they are redefining how it is delivered, orchestrated, and experienced through intelligent, proactive, and adaptive systems.
